Cat Skinner

Sometimes you come across the term Cat Skinner, it means someone who drive a Caterpillar Tractor.  The skinner part comes from back in the 19th century when drivers of teams of mules, horses or bulls used whips to keep the animals moving.  They could skin the hide off an animal with the whip.  so instead of being a mule skinner today the driver is a cat skinner.

Above George Sinex who was in the Civilian Conservation Corp at Georgetown Delaware at the time of the photo plays at being a Cat Skinner
