An unusually large persimmon grown on the premises of John F. McNelia, on State street, is on exhibit here. It measures ten and one-half inches in circumference and weights ten and one-half ounces.

John Franklin McNelia was born in Georgetown in 1868. He was a railroad engineer and lived in Delmar and Crisfield. He married Barbara Ellen Beauchamp (1883-1976) in 1902 after his first wife Florence had passed away in 1900. He would pass away in 1956.
