Walter Lee Mills
(1891-1980) was a barber in Delmar Maryland.
He worked as a barber from about 1915 until 1968. He worked in partnership with J. Masdon Hearn
and later in his own shop on 110 East Elizabeth street. His eyes bothered him greatly and his
barbershop was designed to have windows on all four sides so natural light
would light the interior instead of depending on electric lights.
He was the
son of William Joseph Mills and Edith Mae Waller and was born in Delmar,
Delaware. He served in World War One and
was overseas from September 1918 to June of 1919. He married Ida and they had one son Walter
Scott Mills. He was also a notary public
and his name appears on many Bank of Delmar papers.
