1935 Labor Day Events


DELMAR, Aug. 27. A parade and general day-long celebration will be held here Labor Day by the Young Men's Booster Club.

The parade will form at Railroad avenue and East street at 1:30 p. m. and from there will move north, to State street, east to Eighth street and end at the high school on the Delaware side of the State line.

Following the parade there will be a baseball game between Glen Rayne Post, No. 15, American Legion and the Delmar Fire Department at the Delaware High School grounds.

There have been many entrants for the bicycle race which starts at 5 p. m.

Both races, one starting at Providence Church and the other at Owens store, will begin at 5 o'clock sharp, and will end in the business section of the town.

At 9 o'clock in the evening the club will offer everyone the opportunity of dancing at a street dance on Railroad avenue, between Grove and State streets.

The first Fall meeting of Adah Chapter No. 5, O. E. S., will be held on Monday evening. September 2. Mrs. Daisy Dunn is the worthy matron and Levin R. Lowe, worthy patron.

The Delmar Fire Department and the Drum and Bugle Corps participated in the firemen's parade at Milton, Monday night. The fire company was awarded $15 for best appearance, and the Drum and Bugle Corps, $10.
