Harry Morris Store or the Melson Market

This building is commonly known as Harry's Store in Melson. It started life as a one school house built in 1896. In 1932 the school closed and William Leonard Morris (Harrys father) and Clarence Morris (Harrys brother) bought the building for $132, had it moved to its present location and converted it to a store. Previous to that the two had run a store located across the street from the 'new" store.  Later in 1938 Harry Leonard Morris took it over from his father and brother.

From 1938 to the 1950s the store was open from 6Am to Midnight.  With the coming of television people begin to stay home in the evening so the store hours changed to 6AM to 8PM.

They sold the store about 1997 and it continued as a store for a few years and then closed.
