Besides being jewelers, Ira Hearne and Carl Smith also published a number of postcards
Since their shop was across the street from the Railroad station I can see them carrying a line of postcards of Delmar so when travelers arrived in Delmar they could send a card back home to announce their arrival in Delmar, the Paris of Southern Delaware.
In this case this card was sent to Miss Ida Hearn in Laurel from Walter.
After their partnership ceased Ira Hearne would continue with postcards. In a number of cases they are the only pictures of Delmar scenes that we have in that time period.
