Here's a great photo of Dennis Dillion Sr. of Raquette Lake pulling a locomotive with one of his horses. The train was low on water and detached from the rest of the train to try and make it to the water tank in Raquette.. it eventually ran out before it made it to the tank. Dillon then had to pull it the rest of the way with his horse.
This dates to about 1908 which was about a year before Dillon Sr. became involved with the Raquette Lake Supply Co. with partners Dennis Moynehan and Maurice and John Callahan. They would all eventually take over the Raquette Lake Hotel and the RL Transportation Co.
Dennis was born in 1876 and died in 1948.
