From the 1940s through the 1960s souvenir pillow cases were popular items. Usually done on a satiny material in gaudy colors with fringe the pillows cases would be collected as a souvenir of the city, state or military base a person had visited. They were things that were usually given - brought home by a boyfriend, husband or son and given to the sweetheart, wife, or mother.
Today they can be purchased cheap ($1 or $2) at flea markets or not so cheap online at $25 to $50 dollars.
Some collectors frame them like a picture
They lack sophistication but were a reflection of the taste of the ordinary person of this period.
I'd pay a WHOLE LOT for the Ocean City pillowcase....I'm a serious OC collector, been collecting it for about 25 years!
